Use with VMWare ESXi images

Is it possible to use remote install with ESXi images?  When I try to connect I get the following:

Opening '[datastore2] Win2003 Server/Win2003 Server.vmx' (ESX)
ERROR: This operation is not supported with the current license
Closing '[datastore2] Win2003 Server/Win2003 Server.vmx' (ESX)

Opening '[datastore2] Win2003 Server/Win2003 Server.vmx' (ESX)
ERROR: This operation is not supported with the current license
Closing '[datastore2] Win2003 Server/Win2003 Server.vmx' (ESX)

Or is it possible to use the Workstation image from within another virtual machine running through Workstation?   Our build machine is a VM running in Workstation 6.5, and I would like to be able to use RemoteInstall to launch a post build install test, but am not sure if it is possible to use the Workstation option from within the VM itself.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

  Caroline

Yes, but unfortunately you need a VMWare license to use the automation API. This was quite a surprise for me too. This is discussed here.

You can enable ssh on esxi but it is not supported.

I just read

http://communities.vmware.com/message/1650547#1650547

"You can use VIX API 1.6.2 with free version of ESXi 4.0"

But unfortunately, "ESXi 4.1 requires VIX 1.10"
